As an NRA and North American Hunting Club life member, Steve Haskell is an avid outdoor sports enthusiast, with over twenty years hunting, fishing and birddog training experience. In November of 2009, his passion for the great outdoors, and dedication to the sporting life, drove him to establish Birddog Outdoor Sports Inc.
In 2008, Steve earned his Gunsmithing Certificate, and has experience in maintaining and repairing a variety of firearms. In 2010 he obtained a Class 1 FFL, NYS Dealer in Firearms and Gunsmith License (handguns included). A longtime Ducks Unlimited committee member (Oswego Chapter); Steve is currently the FFL Gun Transfer Agent for the Ducks Unlimited Oswego Chapter's annual fundraising banquet. Steve is also a Licensed Hunting Guide (#3862) in the state of New York. His specialty is pheasant and goose hunting.
Over the years of hunting with birddogs (specifically Labrador Retrievers), Steve's birddog training philosophy is to train them young, train them often, and build on a dog's natural hunting instincts. He further believes that a dog's owner needs to be part of the training process, and stresses the importance of teamwork between hunter and his/her dog.
